Many parents have taken an active role in their child's education and tutoring and called our office to find out "What happens next?" If you HAVE NOT been contacted by the provider listed on the postcard you received from the Title I Office, please call 843-782-4522 for provider contact information or to be transferred to another provider. If you HAVE BEEN CONTACTED by your child's tutoring provider you should expect the following: 1. The provider will arrange for a pre-assessment at no cost to you at a time and location convenient for you and your child. 2. The provider will use the pre-test, your comments, and information from your child's school to create a Student Learning Plan. You will have to sign a collaboration form saying that you helped design the plan and approve of its contents. 3. Tutoring dates and times will be on the learning plan. 4. Tutoring begins within 5 days of the learning plan being approved by the Title I Office. 5. You receive monthly progress reports 6.Tutoring is complete (including any make-up days) by May 31, 2012. 7. We are in the 2nd enrollment period! Parents who have eligible children have received an application labeled for their child from their child's school. Anyone who is interested in applying can print and complete the application found here. SES Providers are contacting parents now to schedule pre-assessment and create Student Learning Plans. The deadline for these plans is December 14, 2011, but tutoring may not begin until January. If you have questions, contact your provider directly. _ Dear Providers, In harmony with the Colleton County School District 2011-2012 Calendar, attached, our office will be closed from Wednesday, November 23, 2011 until Sunday November 27th in observance of the Thanksgiving National Holiday. Our office re-opens on Monday, November 28, 2011 at 8am. Please feel free to send emails or faxes to our office; however responses and acknowledgements will not be made until Monday. Please be aware that while you may choose to contact parents, pre-test, and eventually tutor during holidays, (excluding Sundays, before 8am or after 8pm) the Title I Office will not be available during the following dates: Thanksgiving: November 23, 2011 – November 27, 2011 Winter Break: December 19, 2011 - January 2, 2012 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: January 16, 2012 President’s Day: February 20, 2012 Spring Break: March 31, 2012 – April 8, 2012 During these breaks and Holidays our email and fax machine will accept incoming messages, but we will not be actively monitoring any office communications. The deadline for applications for free tutoring through the SES program is NOVEMBER 11, 2011. We would love to see 500 applications well before then, and we only have about 200 to go! The Title I Office is working on increasing the spots available for students in the free tutoring program. This could increase the availability of services from about 345 to approximately 385 students. If you are interested in FREE TUTORING through the Supplemental Education Services program, please PRINT AND SUBMIT an application. Only parents can complete the application and must come to the school or the Title I Office to submit the form. Your child must receive free or reduced lunch to qualify for services. We have nearly 200 in our office and are processing the documents, if you did not select three providers or we cannot read your writing, you will get a call to confirm your information. Please keep the applications coming, schools are sending in originals on a regular basis and parents can drop off original forms to the Title I Office. Your child brought home an application for FREE TUTORING through the Supplemental Education Services Program managed by the Title I Office. Applications should be completed by parents and returned to the school ASAP! The final deadline for this enrollment process is 11/11/11 - Friday, November 11, 2011.
